Church façade & art exhibition

A village full of charm and history

Pájara is a picturesque village in the southern part of Fuerteventura and also the administrative centre of the municipality of the same name. It is characterised by its traditional Canarian architecture and rich history.

In the centre of the village is the Iglesia Nuestra Señora de Regla, a 17th century church known for its ornately carved stone façade. The decorations show motifs reminiscent of Aztec art, which points to the historical links between the Canary Islands and Central and South America.

Another cultural highlight is the Espacio de las Artes Pepe Dámaso, an art exhibition containing around 60 works by the renowned Canarian artist Pepe Dámaso. The themes of the works include migration, connection to Africa & myths of the Canary Islands. The exhibition is located in the historic Casa del Cura building and can be ideally combined with a visit to the charming village.
