Cofete is a remote village on the south-west coast of Fuerteventura, known for its remoteness and spectacular scenery. The wide, wild beach of Playa de Cofete stretches for several kilometres and is framed by the dramatic mountains of the Jandía peninsula, including the Pico de la Zarza, which at 807 metres is the highest point on the island.

Due to its remoteness and the often strong surf, the beach remains largely unspoilt and is ideal for visitors who want to experience the unique landscape of this place and the unspoilt nature of Fuerteventura to the full.

The small village of Cofete itself consists of just a few houses and a small restaurant, as well as a small museum next door. The village offers a secluded, almost forgotten atmosphere. At the entrance to Playa de Cofete is the Cementerio de Cofete, a small, secluded cemetery that commemorates the few people who once lived in this remote area.

At the southern end of Playa de Cofete, the imposing Roque del Moro rises out of the Atlantic - a striking rock that is a favourite destination for hikers and photographers. Just above the village lies the mysterious Casa Winter, which is shrouded in legend and arouses the interest of history buffs and adventurers alike.

A visit to Cofetes is an unforgettable experience for nature lovers and adventurers who want to discover the remote and unspoilt side of Fuerteventura.

The journey is via a long gravel road, which is rewarded with spectacular views of the coastal landscape, but requires a certain amount of caution.
