Hidden paradise under steep cliffs
Playa de la Escalera is a hidden gem on the west coast of Fuerteventura that particularly attracts adventurers and nature lovers. This secluded beach impresses with its spectacular location at the foot of steep cliffs.
It owes its name "Playa de la Escalera" to the long staircase that leads down to it. The descent itself is a bit of an adventure and rewards visitors with a secluded, almost unspoilt stretch of beach.
With its fine, golden sand and the high cliffs that frame the beach, Playa de la Escalera offers a unique and wild natural experience far away from the typical tourist beaches.
When the sun goes down, the place is also transformed into a magical spectacle of light and shadow, making it one of the most beautiful sunset beaches on the island.
- VIVE Tip
Natural wind protection & sunsets
- A visit to Playa de la Escalera is usually also suitable on windy days, as the high cliffs offer natural protection from the wind.
- The beach also provides the perfect backdrop for impressive sunsets - a reason to stay until the evening and enjoy the unique atmosphere.
- Notice
Rough sea, steep stairs & tides
- Strong surf and strong currents can occur at Playa de la Escalera. Swimming is therefore only recommended with particular caution.
- The steep ascent and descent via the partly unpaved stairs can be strenuous and should be considered in advance.
- As the beach is partially submerged at high tide, a visit at low tide is recommended in order to fully explore the remote corners.
