Playa de Ajuí is located right next to the small fishing village of Ajuy on the dramatic west coast of Fuerteventura and is known for its black sand and impressive rock formations.

The beach is characterised by its pristine nature and clear, deep blue water, which should be enjoyed with caution due to strong currents and powerful waves.

Playa de Ajuí has a special historical significance, as the oldest rocks in the Canary Islands have been uncovered here - they date from around 100 to 150 million years ago and offer visitors a unique insight into the geological past of the archipelago.

The surrounding area is characterised by steep cliffs and impressive rock formations, which are not only scenic but also reflect the history of the island.

The nearby Cuevas de Ajuy are also well worth a visit, offering exciting discoveries and further access to the geological diversity of the island.
