- The Montaña de Tindaya is considered a sacred place and had great cultural significance for the indigenous „Mahos“, the original inhabitants of Fuerteventura. Over 300 rock engravings in the form of footprints on the mountain bear witness to its ritual role and the deep connection between the ancient inhabitants and nature.
- The mountain is now under strict protection and access is completely prohibited in order to preserve this unique cultural heritage and fragile natural environment. Violations of the ban can be punished with heavy fines.

At the foot of the holy mountain
Tindaya is located in the south-west of the municipality of La Oliva in the north of the island, at the foot of the sacred mountain of the same name, Montaña de Tindaya. Tindaya is a small, traditional village that is particularly known for its proximity to the mountain and its historical significance. The mountain has brought the village to the attention of visitors and historians who are interested in the cultural and spiritual significance of the region.
The village is characterised by a mixture of traditional and modern houses, yet still retains its rural, Canarian atmosphere. It is a quiet, secluded place that is off the beaten track. The village is surrounded by vast plains and volcanic landscapes, making it an interesting destination for hikers and nature lovers.
In addition, the secluded natural beaches of Playa de Tebeto, Playa de la Mujer and Playa de Jarubio, which are located on the nearby coast, are easily accessible from Tindaya, making it an ideal starting point for beach lovers.

By car
- Tindaya is located in the west of the island and can be reached via the FV-10.
- Beaches, such as Playa de Tebeto, can only be reached via unpaved gravel tracks, which can be impassable when it rains.
- Car parking is available in the village.
