carnaval blanco tetir

Culture, carnival & authentic island life

Tetir is a small, traditional village in the centre of Fuerteventura, west of Puerto del Rosario, which is known for its Canarian architecture and authentic rural charm.

The Mercado de Tetir, which takes place every two months in the Plaza Pública, is particularly popular. There, visitors can discover local products such as goat's cheese, gofio, vegetables and handmade artwork. The market is often accompanied by traditional music, making it a lively meeting place for locals and visitors alike.

Another cultural highlight is the Carnaval Blanco de Tetir, an annual festival in March or April where participants dress in white and throw flour. This festival marks the end of the carnival season and is known for its lively atmosphere with music, dancing and festive activities.

Tetir is also known for its „Terrero de Lucha“ sports hall, which is used for Lucha Canaria, the traditional Canarian wrestling match. Regular tournaments and training sessions are held here, in which the local Club de Lucha Unión Tetir plays a central role.

The tranquil surroundings of the village also offer beautiful hiking trails through the surrounding countryside - ideal for nature lovers who want to experience life on Fuerteventura off the beaten track.
