El Hierro is one of the most challenging reef breaks on Fuerteventura, known for its powerful and precisely breaking left-hand waves. The spot delivers long, steep waves with fast sections that are ideal for technically demanding manoeuvres.

The sharp rocks under the water surface and the strong currents make the spot a real test for surfers with a lot of experience and confident handling in critical conditions. When the swell is big, El Hierro can produce impressive barrels, but these require quick reactions and good timing.

Getting into the water is also challenging, as you have to paddle over a rocky coast.
