The hiking route on the Isla de Lobos begins shortly after the jetty and the visitor centre. From here, the path first leads towards the Volcán de la Caldera and the Faro de Punta Martiño.

The route runs along the Playa de la Concha, where there is an important archaeological site. The remains of a workshop for extracting purple dye from sea snails were discovered here, indicating a Roman presence on the island over 2000 years ago.

Further on, you have the option of choosing the somewhat more challenging ascent to the volcanic crater to experience a breathtaking 360-degree view of Fuerteventura, Lanzarote and the Atlantic Ocean from the highest point on the island, or continuing along the route to the lighthouse.

After the Faro de Punta Martiño, the path stretches through an impressive dune landscape characterised by volcanic formations. In addition to the dunes, there are around 50 small volcanic cones, known as "hornitos".

These hornitos were formed by the eruption of secondary craters and give the landscape a special character reminiscent of lunar landscapes. In combination with the sandy dunes, they form a unique backdrop that illustrates the geological diversity of the island.

The route continues past the lush green lagoon, whose shallow, turquoise waters offer fascinating reflections and plays of colour depending on the tide. Finally, the route reaches Puertito de los Lobos, a small, picturesque fishing village with simple, traditional houses, surrounded by natural turquoise-coloured pools that invite you to swim depending on the water level.

The route is well marked and suitable for hikers of all fitness levels. Apart from the ascent to Volcán de la Caldera, the route remains largely flat and offers a relaxed way to explore the island's unique landscape and tranquil surroundings.
